Fish Pie

Serve up a satisfying family dinner with our comforting Fish Pie recipe. Primula Cheese is the secret ingredient in this classic dish and the fluffy mashed potato topping makes for a deliciously warming meal.

Tube of Primula Original Cheese
  • Mash:
  • 1kg potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 100ml milk
  • Filling:
  • 4 tbsp Primula Original Cheese
  • 320g fish pie mix (smoked haddock, cod and salmon)
  • 1 leek, sliced
  • 25g butter
  • 25g plain flour
  • 500ml milk
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives
  • 150g frozen peas

  • Preheat oven to 180c.
  • Bring a large pot of water to boil and add the potatoes. Boil for 15 minutes until tender.
  • Meanwhile, heat the 25g butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the leek and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the flour and mix well.
  • Pour in the milk, a little at a time, mixing in each addition thoroughly. Keep adding until you have added it all.
  • Add the stock cube and mustard.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until thickened, around 5 minutes. Stir regularly.
  • Once the potatoes are cooked, drain and return to the pan with the butter and milk. Mash.
  • Add the Primula Original Cheese, fish, chives and peas to the sauce and mix well.
  • Remove from the heat and tip into a casserole dish. Spread out evenly.
  • Dot the mash on top of the filling and gently spread out.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, until golden and bubbling, then serve.
