What you need
Tube of Primula Original Cheese
  • 2 x 320g Ready Rolled Puff Pastry
  • 4 tbsp pesto
  • 140g tube Primula Original Cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Sun-blushed tomatoes, diced
  • Fresh basil
How you do it
How you do it
  • Remove Primula Cheese from the fridge and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Unroll one puff pastry sheet and place it on the baking tray. Add the pesto to the pastry sheet and spread evenly with a knife.
  • Unroll the second puff pastry sheet and place it on top of the first one.
  • Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out a star from one corner of the layered pastry and set it aside.
  • Cut the remaining layered pastry into the shape of a Christmas tree (triangle), with a wide trunk and base. Remove the excess pastry and set it aside for decorations.
  • Lightly score two lines (approximately 3cm wide) down the centre of the triangle to create a tree trunk.
  • Use the trunk as a guide and cut branches into the sides of the triangle, approximately 2cm wide.
  • Leave the top 5cm - the pastry star will be placed here later.
  • Working from the top of the tree, twist each branch away from you, giving two turns to each branch.
  • Cut a star from the excess pastry and place it on top of the tree – secure it with a little beaten egg. Brush the star and tree with beaten egg.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes, before carefully placing onto a wire rack to cool further.
  • Place on a serving plate or board. Decorate with Primula Cheese, basil and sun-blushed tomatoes to create a Christmas tree effect.
