The Perfect Comfort Food: How to Master the Art of Primula Pizza Pasta

Our twist on the penultimate Friday night classic, this Pizza Pasta recipe is a weekend game-changer and the ultimate comfort food. Filled with Primula’s delicious Light Cheese, this is a seriously crowd-pleasing recipe (even if that crowd is just you!) It’s got everything you love about pizza, combined with pasta and Primula to make it even more enjoyable.

  • 400g penne pasta
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 5 sprays of Frylight
  • ½ can chopped tomatoes
  • ½ red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (Or could use chopped tomatoes with herbs)
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1tbsp tomato puree
  • TOPPINGS:
  • 140g tube of Primula Light Cheese
  • 2 mushrooms, diced
  • 2-3 slices of wafer thin ham, cut or torn into squares
  • ½ pepper, diced
  • ½ pepper, diced

How you do it
How you do it
  • Add the pasta into a pan of salted boiling water.
  • Meanwhile, spray Frylight into a large, shallow, heavy bottomed pan (preferably a round one that you can pop into the oven straight after) and fry the onions on a low heat, stirring until they are softened.
  • Add the garlic and the tomatoes to the pan and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  • Season to taste and simmer for 5 minutes, then stir through the tomato puree, to thicken.
  • Check that the pasta is al dente, then drain and add pasta to the sauce.
  • Stir thoroughly.
  • Top the pasta with Primula Light Cheese, and then sprinkle with the mushrooms, ham and peppers.
  • Place in the oven at 180°C for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese bubbles and is golden.
  • Add fresh basil leaves.
  • Serve with a fresh salad and dig in.
