Pea and Ham Orzo

Rustle up a speedy midweek meal with our creamy Pea and Ham Orzo recipe. This rice-shaped pasta is so versatile and makes a quick risotto-style dish that the whole family will enjoy. Satisfying and delicious!

Tube of Primula Cheese 'n' Ham
  • 3 tbsp Primula Cheese 'n' Ham
  • 300g orzo pasta
  • 1 onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 150g diced pancetta or ham hock
  • 800ml vegetable stock
  • 160g frozen peas
  • Two large handfuls of spinach
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat.
  • Add the pancetta and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add the onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes until softened.
  • Meanwhile, boil a kettle and make up the stock.
  • Add the orzo to the pan and mix to coat in the oil.
  • Add roughly ¼ of the stock and stir well.
  • Once the stock is absorbed, repeat, stirring occasionally and adding more stock until it is all absorbed and the orzo is tender.
  • Add the peas and spinach and cook for 2-3 minutes until wilted.
  • Stir through the Primula Cheese 'n' Ham.
  • Serve topped with chopped parsley.
