Cheese and Onion Toastie

Cheese and onion make a great combo. Pop them in a toastie and you've got a quick and tasty lunch on a budget. Our toastie recipe is so versatile too - just add any kind of oozy Primula Cheese for a new and delicious twist every time.

Light Cheese 'n' Onion
  • 4 tbsp Primula Light Cheese 'n' Onion
  • 4 slices sourdough
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 2 spring onions
How you do it
How you do it
  • Peel and slice the onion in half. Slice into thin half moons.
  • Heat the butter in a frying pan over low heat. Add the onions and cook for 15 minutes, until very soft and sticky.
  • Meanwhile, slice the spring onions.
  • Spread 2 tbsp Primula Light Cheese 'n' Onion on 2 slices of bread. Top with the onions, spring onions and the remaining slices of bread.
  • Wipe out the frying pan.
  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in the pan over medium heat.
  • Add the sandwiches and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until gooey and golden.
  • Slice and serve.
