Cheese and Caramelised Onion on Homemade Toast

An indulgent lunchtime treat or a delicious snack to tickle those sweet and savoury desires. This recipe is so easy and budget-friendly. Not surprisingly, Primula Cheese and Ham gives this dish a punch of cheesy flavour while adding the creamy, delicious texture it needs.

  • 1 tube Primula Cheese and Ham
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 slices of Homemade bread, toasted.
  • 2 slices of Ham or Prosciutto (optional)

  • Add the oil and onions to a frying pan and cook on a low heat for 20-30 minutes, occasionally stirring so they don’t stick or burn. Add a splash of water if necessary to prevent them from sticking.
  • Add the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Cook for a further 5 mins or until the onions are sticky.
  • Toast two slices of bread. Evenly spread half a tube of Primula Cheese and Ham across the two slices of toast. Place the caramelised onions on top and serve.
  • (Optional) Add slices of ham or prosciutto for a defining ham flavour.
