Cheesetastic Ball Raises Thousands for NSPCC

We are proud to announce that we raised more than £10,000 for the NSPCC following our annual charity Cheesy Ball.

The money raised from the charity ball follows on from the £52,000 raised by Primula earlier in the year in which we donated 20% of our profits, from the limited-edition NSPCC branded tubes, to the charity.

The Cheesy Ball, which was hosted by Managing Director, Paul Lewney, featured a charity auction, table raffle and tombola as well as a three-course menu at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.

Paul said: “Charity is at the heart of what we do at Primula and thanks to the hard work of our staff here in the UK we have been able to raise thousands of pounds for such a great cause.

“The NSPCC carries out fantastic work which allows children to be children and thanks to the generosity of so many individuals and businesses who donated prizes, as well as buying tickets for the event, we have been able to raise over £12,000 on the night.”

The money raised is in addition to the thousands of pounds given to charities every year through sales of Primula Cheese, with profits donated to good causes across the UK and the world through the Kavli Trust – a charitable trust which owns the Kavli Group of which Primula is part of.

The event was also attended by NSPCC’s Adele Turnbull and Jan Coleman, who spoke about the work the NSPCC carries out to support children across the UK every day.

Adele Turnbull, Partnerships Manager at NSPCC, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Primula for choosing the NSPCC to benefit from their ball this year. It was a fabulous night and one that really will make a difference.

“Over half a million children in the UK suffer abuse every year. They feel hopelessly scared and alone, and what they need more than anything is for us to help them feel safe again. The funds raised will do that, through services like Letting the Future in we will help children devastated by abuse to recover, rebuild and regain their lives.

“Thank you to everyone who donated prizes, worked to make the event a success or came along and gave generously.”

Sponsors at the Primula Cheesy Ball included Zeal, Blackett Walker and Complete Material Handling.
